Valparaiso

Located near Lake Michigan and just an hour’s drive from Chicago, Valparaiso is in the county seat of Porter County, Indiana. This vibrant suburban town supports a thriving arts scene, historic downtown with an abundance of restaurants and boutiques, along with plenty of parks and family events. The latest U.S. Census Data puts Valparaiso’s population a little over 33,000 residents but the population increases significantly in the summer when thousands of people come to Valparaiso for the annual Popcorn Festival. The Indiana dunes and Lake Michigan are nearby and have facilities for swimming, hiking and camping. The Banta neighborhood is famous for its historic homes which are made in a variety of architectural styles including Italianate, English/ Cottswald and Arts & Crafts. The Memorial Opera House hosts musical programs regularly. Central Park Plaza located in downtown Valparaiso offers plenty of space for weddings, services, entertainment needs, and more. Features include the Northwest Health Amphitheater, splash-pad play area, accessible restrooms, and an ice skating ring.
